A twisted (but hilarious) prank!

Allow me to set the scene...a few weeks ago my beloved rescue cat Piccolo had to be put to sleep. I was devastated and the loss hit me really hard. As it was my birthday on the 29th April, Dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday...after thinking for a few days I came up with an idea that would mean I could always have something to remind me of Piccolo. I thought this was a simple request...Dad however, took it slightly literally and I just had to play along;

If you're easily offended then it may be best to stop reading ;)

It was a split second reaction but having started, I just had to continue. I went rummaging in the charity shops to find something suitable. I give you "Max". He was perfect and as I was paying for him the lady on the till said how nice it was he was going to a loving home......

Sorry Max

With a little help from an old jar, a teabag and some vinegar......I had the end result.

Unfortunately I realised I wouldn't be able to post it through Dad's letterbox so it would have to wait until the weekend.

Thursday night I had a call from Dad just to wish me Happy Birthday and asking a few more questions such as how the vets had managed to send me home with a paw and was this a new thing? I didn't say much for fear of giving the game away as I was trying so hard not to laugh.

And the moment you've been waiting for - I bring you to this evening. Dad and Alex turned up to take me out for a meal so on their arrival I presented Dad with a jar. At first he looked horrified and said "I don't think we'll be taking this to the restaurant". I persuaded them to look closer but couldn't follow them in to the kitchen as I was laughing too much. I could hear all this discussion of "how did they do it?", "how macabre!", "it's all swollen!"......

At this point I had to comment. I suggested they look closer. After what seemed like ages and once they realised I was about to wet myself laughing, the prank dawned on them and they realised it wasn't real.

It's good news for Max too - he's been bandaged up and will live happily ever after.

I have to admit it's the best laugh I've had in ages. Yes I'm still mourning Piccolo and she will always be a part of me but this opportunity was too good to miss after Dad had left himself totally open to it ;)

As for Dad......he now has to go and tell everyone he told over the last few days that he's been the victim of a prank
